Doctors spend significant time after consultations writing up clinical notes — time that should be spent with patients. Manual note-taking during consultations disrupts the doctor-patient relationship. Transcription services exist but they’re slow, expensive, and require manual editing.
What we built
An AI voice agent integrated into PurpleHealth’s clinic app that listens to consultations in real time, understands medical terminology and context, and generates structured clinical notes automatically. The agent distinguishes between doctor and patient speech, identifies key clinical information, and formats notes to clinical standards. Doctors review and approve rather than write from scratch.
What changed
Clinical note generation is 75% faster. Doctors spend more time in consultations and less time on documentation. Notes are more consistent and complete because the AI captures everything said, not just what the doctor remembered to write down.
The honest part
Medical AI requires careful validation. We built an approval workflow — doctors always review before notes are finalised. The AI assists, it doesn’t replace clinical judgment. Any healthcare AI implementation needs this safeguard built in from day one.
